Dr. Counselman began acquiring business knowledge at a young age. By the time he was twenty-one he had owned and managed a commercial contracting corporation, a commercial property management company, a restaurant, a national sports retailing mail order company, and an international eye-wear manufacturing and distribution company. Simultaneously, he received his Bachelors of Business Administration degree, from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, specializing in entrepreneurial studies.
Dr. Counselman began sharing his knowledge and experience as president of an inventor’s organization, then as a featured speaker at numerous business and educational forums on the subject of entrepreneurialism. He then began to use his expertise to aid upstarts and fledgling companies with business plan assimilation, financing and marketing and distribution of their products and services.
Following the death of his father, also a successful chiropractor and businessman, Dr. Counselman moved to Arizona to pursue a Masters in International Business Management. However, after some deep soul searching he decided to change course and embark on a new challenge. Setting his business background aside he chose to pursue an occupation that would allow him to be of better service to others. This alteration of focus sent him to the Parker School of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas.
Graduating in the spring of 1995, Dr. Counselman moved home to Kansas to begin practicing chiropractic. He soon discovered that his previous business experience was to be instrumental to his chiropractic success. In the 14 years Dr. Counselman has been practicing he has started, bought or operated 11 practices which have inicluded multidiciplinary clinics, physical therapy clinics and massage therapy centers including multidisciplinary practices.
In his first book, Success for the New Chiropractor, Dr. Counselman combined his previous business knowledge with his practice building experience to provide chiropractic students and new graduates with the tools necessary to get them started.
In Ultra Success in the Business of Chiropractic, Dr. Counselman goes beyond the material presented in the first book to enlighten and advise chiropractors in all stages of practice how to get everything they desire from their practices. Dr. Counselman has taken many of the often-complicated business issues that face chiropractors in today’s changing practice environment and provided the essential information required to navigate the pathway to ultra success!
Dr. Counselman spends his time in Arizona where he still practices on a limited basis, managing his clinics, and providing consulting services to other clinic owners. He writes in his spare time.
